A nice bedroom isn’t something we’ve ever had. To be honest our bedroom has always just been a drop zone. However after giving both kids bedrooms a refresh earlier in the year we decided it was Mom and Dads turn! 🙂 This was also the only room (and attached master bathroom – that’s a project for another day) left in the house that had the original paint from when we move in 5 years ago and it was awful!

See what I mean about the paint colors? 😐 Yikes!
This room also had the original cream colored carpet that we couldn’t wait to replace.
Once we stripped the room it was time to move on to the flooring. We decided to stick with the same flooring that we installed in the kiddos room since all bedrooms are on the second floor we thoughts we’d use the same flooring throughout the entire 2nd floor. The flooring used was purchased at Menards and is called, SuperFast® RidgePlex Smoke. I liked that it still had a grey tone to it but it wasn’t as light as the flooring on our main floor. I wanted to add some depth and warmth to the bedrooms.

Next up was the feature wall. I knew I wanted a board and batten wall but wrestled with the placement of the boards due to the height of our bedframe. My hubby was a trooper and kept holding the frame up to the wall while we measured and figured the height out. Also another shoutout to the hubs for the amount of measuring and math that went in to making the wall PERFECT! 🙂 To create the feature wall we used MDF 1 x 4″ boards. We attached them to the wall using a nail gun. Once attached to the wall we filled the seams with DryDex. Then sanded, caulked and painted. Please keep in mind that based off your own room dimensions the dimensions of the board and batten wall will vary.
Next up was paint. I wanted a black wall. Yup! I wanted the feature wall to be dark so off to Pinterest I went to look at all the black wall paints out there and what they looked like in bedrooms and that’s when I landed on Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams. The other walls in the room are the grey that I’ve used throughout my house called, Dolphin Fin (by Behr).

Now on to the fun part of putting the space all back together again. But first I went on the hunt for side tables. I wanted them to pop from the wall color but not clash with the bed frame (no longer sold). Wouldn’t you know I found the perfect table from Homegoods and there was only one small problem… there was only one. 🙁 I then went to 3 other homegoods and tjmaxx stores in various surrounding towns. I called other stores with no luck. Then a follower reached out with a LINK (it’s since sold out)…. to what we thought was the table on the TJ Maxx website. The photo was odd though as it was missing the table. But it was worth a shot and it showed up and was an exact match.
